Our Story
Kiefer Livestock is a family-run operation that Nolan began in 2018 upon graduating high school after finding his passion for show goats and education through the FFA program.
Currently, Nolan and his wife, Peyton reside in San Angelo, Texas where they run approximately 250 head of goats. Both Nolan and Peyton grew up in the suburban areas of Klein and Weatherford, Texas. Both towns, began historically as large agricultural communities. However, over the past 40 years, much of the farm and ranch land has been developed into shopping centers and neighborhoods which ultimately led them to west Texas.
Nolan graduated from Tarleton State University in 2022 with his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education where he focused on honing the art of educating and working with youth. Nolan has been blessed with the opportunity to learn from and be advised by Dr. David Frazier and Mrs. Laura Williams. Both mentors have served key roles in helping perfect his facilitation and education skills. Additionally, Nolan has had the privilege to work under and learn from numerous leaders in the livestock industry such as Chad Walker and Steve Sturtz throughout his time in high school and college.
In addition, Nolan also completed 3 years of undergraduate research through the Texas A&M Agrilife Research Center under the direction of Dr. Jim Muir and Mrs. Nicole Cherry in the Plant and Animal Interactions Laboratory. These work and education experiences have allowed Nolan to gain extensive knowledge of ruminant animals, develop a strong work ethic, practice the art of teaching, and create an inquisitive problem-solving mindset.
Peyton also grew up showing, with great success in high school with a highlight win reserving the Fort Worth Market Goat Show. Peyton has an undergraduate degree in Agricultural Services and Development with a emphasis in Agricultural Industries and Agencies and a minor in Agricultural Communications and a Master of Science in Agricultural and Consumer Resources. In grad school, Peyton worked as graduate assistant teaching and assisting with labs in the Agricultural Communications department. She also conducted a thesis assessing Rural Mental Health.
Following her college graduation from Tarleton State in 2021, she went on to lead the Youth 4-H Extension Programs for Wilbarger County for 4 Years. During her time as a 4-H Agent, Peyton developed pivotal skills of leading the youth programs, organizing events, chairmen of validation, show move in's, as well as locating multiple species and management of projects for her 4-H students.

Livestock has been and will always be, a consistent passion for Nolan and Peyton both. They find joy in sharing their passion with others! From selection to show day, Nolan is constantly communicating with his customers, making sure to pay careful attention to progress made in their projects, ready to adjust any and all feed and exercise plans, and ensure proper animal health is managed at all times. At the show, Nolan is the go to for drench plans and clipping, he makes sure the animal and showman go into the ring with confidence. In the ring, you can find Peyton with a smile and a computer as she works with the Texas Goat Breeders Association, to give eligible exhibitors cash incentives and points for scholarship money.
Kiefer Livestock places a heavy emphasis on educating and working hands-on with our clients and the youth to help develop attributes such as a strong work ethic and attention to detail. Our services include livestock consulting, showmanship coaching, show day fitting, reproductive services, show goats, and everything needed to get you from day one to the grand drive.
Kiefer Livestock may have been started by Nolan in 2018, but since Peyton has came into the picture, there is not a baby born on their place that she hasn't delivered, doctored, worked with, or pictured. She handles majority of the marketing and the babies are her favorite part of the job! Nolan and Peyton believe in their partnership and enjoy working alongside one another as a team!
